Last year's theme was 'survival' on every level, global and personal. There is no need to repeat what the world had to endure, so just a short update on my situation. I was assaulted by a black thief and left unconscious on the street of Paris. However, it had a somewhat comforting twist that I wish to share with you.
I woke up in the hospital's emergency ward, but I was discharged despite my inability to see well due to double vision. The hospital insisted that I had always had this problem, but I had never been aware of it. Excuse me? I would have noticed such a severe birth defect a lot sooner. Furthermore, the nurse, he angrily ushered me out on the street after 02:00 am! That was much later than my assault, which happened at around 23:30! I could have met with another assault, but my mobile phone had been stolen to call a taxi. I had no option but to hurry back to my apartment, navigating through the dark streets of Paris alone with limited vision. I just prayed to God for protection.
Once home, I searched for a new
doctor online. There was one specialist on brain and nerves available the
following evening. There was no photo of the doctor, but I had to book him.
Astute readers may have guessed already that the doctor would be a black man.
The doctor had served as an intern in the UK and spoke fluent English with a
British accent. He flipped through the discharge report from the hospital and saw
that internal bleeding in my brain happened in a vertical matter. 'That is
where the nerves support eyes and the sense of direction. You would suffer from
double vision with one sight vertically on the other.' Oh, my!
That was indeed happening to me. The doctor encouraged me that it would fix itself when the blood got absorbed back into the brain, and I should avoid anything that would raise my blood pressure. His words removed fear and stress from me, which helped lower my blood pressure. Weeks later, my eyesight improved. The only thing that still looks slightly double is the moon…but I am grateful for having reached this far in recovery. The encounter with this black doctor also normalized my attitude in a certain area.
I, therefore, welcome the new
year with 'recovery' and hope for more positive 'conversion' in the mind of
some men toying with the idea of femicide, or their mothers who keep abetting
their sons to abuse their power over sisters, probably in hope to manipulate
the world through their sons.
THE CHARACTERS
SERPENT,
aka NAGA, the eight-headed
deity. The snake represents the frailty that sees us stray from the
path and often into darkness. Big predators make the headlines, but
ordinary people are tempted to commit small-scale cheating when shielded under the
mantle of anonymity. On good days we can fight off the temptation,
but on bad days when we have just lost something and the world seems unfair,
our hands reach out for it while a sinking feeling spreads inside our hearts,
warning us that this is not the way to get even with life. However,
God or the universe may not mind if the gain is minimal? So we tell
ourselves.
NAGA represents
the second chance and atonement in life.
GODDESS IRIS/NEMESIS:
Instead of picking one from the existing religions, all of which I respect, I
opted to represent the universe's will via Goddess IRIS. God gave us
light, and Goddess followed it up with the sound, but as sound travels slower
than light, no one knows her existence despite benefiting from her gift,
music. Something turned this once open-book IRIS into NEMESIS, Goddess of
Retribution.
THE
SPIRIT of LOUIS XIII: The king of France who reigned
from 14 May 1610 – to 14
May 1643. Enigmatic character the world may not have fully appreciated,
not unlike the current, which can be substantial even if the river looks calm.
OMELETTE: the dog who was the pet of Louis XIII in its former life.
TRUST: The
Nephilim, rejected by the angels and the man, opted to take over the dark
throne vacated by the Serpent. Devil was the name imposed on the
Nephilim by the man, while the name he chose for himself is TRUST.
ADAM: Of course, the first man created after
the shape of God. He is remorseful for
caving into the peer pressure and distorting the reputation of IRIS.
EVE: The second woman created from Adam's rib. For centuries she used feminine wiles to manipulate men to overcome the massive disadvantages
